Types of papilloma

Each strain of HPV causes different types of papillomas. They differ in appearance and location. Has a low or high oncogenic level. Papilloma is a consequence of the HPV virus. Sometimes skin tumors appear in completely different places on a person's skin with some common symptoms. They have one common name - papillomas. They differ from each other in terms of shape, structure, location in the body, degree of oncogenic risk. Depending on these factors, papillomas have their own special names. What are papillomas and why do they appear?

What are papillomas?

"Papilla-shaped tumor", this is how the term papilloma is translated from Latin. These growths on the skin are caused by the HPV virus. Any papilloma is a benign tumor, but depending on the strain (type) of the papillomavirus, they have an oncogenic risk.

Types of papillomas depending on oncogenic risk:

  1. Low oncogenic risk.
  2. High oncogenic risk.

The second group includes strains - 82, 73, 68, 59, 58, 56, 52, 51, 45, 39, 35, 33, 31, 18, 16. Growths on the skin can be completely different in color. The papilloma color scheme can range from light to almost black. Sometimes long papillomas grow on the body, other types of HPV are flat or, on the contrary, have grown like a rooster's comb.

Only a doctor can determine the nature of the papillomavirus by conducting the necessary diagnostics:

  • visual examination of the patient;
  • taking tests to determine the strain of the virus.

The virus enters the body under favorable conditions. You should come into contact with things that carry the virus or are contaminated and your immunity should be compromised.

HPV is usually easily blocked by the immune system, but there are several reasons why it can't:

  • long-term medications;
  • exacerbation of chronic diseases;
  • drug use;
  • Excessive use of alcohol and tobacco.

Any type of this disease requires timely treatment. Papillomas on the body have the unpleasant feature of growing and sometimes turning into cancer. Visiting a doctor is a necessary preventive measure.

Simple papillomas (malignant)

This is the most common type of papilloma on the body. People call them warts, they appear gradually. First, a small tubercle grows on the skin. Gradually, its diameter increases, and its color changes from gray flesh to saturated brown. The structure of vulgar papilloma also changes, becomes hard, and keratinization occurs.

indecent papillomas

Vulgar papillomas are often located:

  • palm;
  • fingers;
  • the skin between the toes
  • knees;
  • sometimes it appears on the face, back, neck

Such neoplasms can appear in groups. First, the "maternal papilloma" appears, and then the growth of the daughter.

Children and adolescents are particularly susceptible to this type of HPV. Vulgar papillomas are usually benign and do not turn into cancer. The strains 75-77, 26-29, 41, 38, 49, 57, 65 are responsible for the formation of such tumors.

Common types of viral infections in the body include plantar warts. The name refers to their place of origin. A plantar growth is solitary and can be identified by a characteristic protruding edge. It usually does not cause discomfort, but sometimes it can interfere with walking. In order not to confuse a corn with a plantar wart, remember that a corn has a smooth and flat surface, where a skin pattern appears. Root warts are caused by strains 1-4.

Both of these are easily removed in a medical clinic. But do not rush to the doctor, such growths may disappear by themselves.

Flat papillomas

flat papillomas on the face

This growth is immediately different from other skin tumors.

It rises slightly above the skin, and if you look closely, its dense-looking surface appears to be made up of small nodules. A flat wart does not have a predetermined shape, it can be jagged edges or, on the contrary, rounded.

Flat papilloma does not undergo keratinization process (death and keratinization of skin cells), therefore, there are no skin grooves characteristic of other types of papillomas.

The color of such a structure is usually light, sometimes it becomes dark and brown. A flat papilloma cannot be dark brown.

Locations:

hand papilloma examination
  • calf;
  • weapons;
  • back;
  • It appears on the face, on the cheeks, around the eyes and on the chin.

Flat tumors are immediately visible to outsiders (if they are in open areas). In addition to visual discomfort, they cause physical discomfort in the form of itching. If you scratch them, they start to "burn".

Such devices should be shown to a dermatologist. You cannot prescribe the right treatment for yourself. The doctor must examine you, make a diagnosis, take into account all your physical characteristics and prescribe treatment. Such growths are easy to remove immediately after they appear. Old growths must be surgically removed. Flat papillomas are caused by viruses 49, 28, 10.

Pointed papillomas (warts)

They have a characteristic appearance so as not to be confused with other types of papillomavirus. Outwardly, such a papilloma can be compared to "cauliflower" or "rooster's comb". Condylomas stick to the skin and grow on short stalks. They grow singly and in large groups. In women, HPV can cause this tumor to grow to a large size.

The color of the plants varies depending on where they appear. Condylomas can be white, fleshy, light pink, and light red to brown in color. Sometimes such growths secrete a liquid with a fetid smell.

Genital warts are often localized lesions.

The main localization of genital warts:

  1. Genital organs.
  2. Anal region.
  3. Crotch.
  4. Urethra.
  5. Vagina and cervix of women.

This type of human papillomavirus is transmitted only through sexual contact. Its development triggers the virus 69, 55, 54, 51, 44, 42, 6, 1

If left untreated, a pre-cancerous condition may develop. The virus accumulates in tissues adjacent to growths and changes the DNA composition of the epithelium and mucosa, causing penile cancer in men and cervical cancer in women. Genital warts should be removed.

Filiform papillomas

They are also called acrochords. They usually grow singly, but acrochord groups are also found. If it is accidentally torn off, a new growth will form in its place, and the growth may grow around the body. They do not transmit disease.

papillomas on the eyelids

There is more aesthetic refusal, especially if the papilloma grows on the surface. The color range is flesh tone to brown. The acrochord is oval and elastic, sometimes keratinous papillomas are formed.

Favorite areas of the body with sensitive skin:

  • face (eyelid area, nose);
  • bucket folds;
  • on the neck;
  • armpit;
  • under the breast (in a woman).

If acrocord appears on the face, do not use scrubs and brushes to avoid damaging it. Most often, growths under the armpit are injured with a razor.

To avoid infection and the disease turning into oncology, it is better to consult a doctor and remove tumors in the clinic. Filiform papillomas are rare.

pointed papillomas

The viruses that cause this type of HPV are strains 2 and 7. Acrochords are more common in older people because the skin loses its elasticity over time.

Sometimes the disease affects children and adolescents.

These are the most common types of HPV. Based on the information on the types of virus, you can independently make a preliminary diagnosis. A medical examination is required to make an accurate diagnosis.

In addition to these types of HPV, there are other types of papillomas. For example, papillomatosis of the larynx, choroidal papilloma (growing in the brain), papillomas in the stomach are called gastric papillomas. Internal papillomas are the most dangerous, and sometimes the patient consults a doctor at an advanced stage of HPV. You can die from internal tumors. For example, growths in the larynx can obstruct breathing and cause asphyxiation. Any HPV infection requires immediate medical attention.
